An advanced air-filtration system results in an ultra-clean personal environment, extra sheetrock improves soundproofing, a rooftop garden insulates the building and offers a quiet haven for residents, rainwater is stored and used to water the garden, wastewater is treated in the building, and the heating and cooling system uses natural gas. In the long term, energy conscious buildings are cheaper to maintain. In fact, the National Real Estate Investor reports that a green building can pay for itself 10 times over. Unfortunately, the cost of these sunlight-filled apartments is quite steep. For $3000-4000 per month, you too can live in a one-bedroom Solaire apartment. By defining a set of building parameters and operating conditions, a building designer can simulate in realtime the energy requirements (heating, cooling, and lighting) and comfort levels (daylight, temperature) of a proposed design. This simulation presents the user with a convenient method of examining facade performance. Student retention is always highly debated. There are clear-cut pros and cons that teachers and parents must take into consideration when making such an important decision. Teachers and parents should work together to come up with a consensus as to whether or not retention is the right decision for a particular student. Retention will not work for every student.  You must have strong parental support and an individualized academic plan that promotes an alternative to how that student is taught, as compared to previous years. Each retention decision should be made on an individual basis. No two students are alike, thus retention must be examined. Take into account the strengths and weaknesses of each individual student.  Teachers and parents must examine a wide array of factors before deciding whether or not retention is the right decision.  Once a retention decision has been made, the next step is to explore how the students individual needs are going to be met at a deeper level than before. If you have a retention policy, it is equally important that you have a retention form that gives a brief description of the reasons the teacher believes the student should be retained. The form should also provide a place for parents to sign and then either agree or disagree with the teachers placement decision. The retention form should summarize placement concerns. However, teachers are strongly encouraged to add additional documentation to support their decision,  including work samples, test scores, teacher notes, and so on. Stereotypes in our society can be a major problem, but can be an extremely big problem to teenagers. In my school, stereotypes has a wide range of impact to our students. In our class we had read an article based on stereotypes.Writer and musician, Shankar Vedantam, in his article, â€Å"How a Self-Fulfilling Stereotype Can Drag Down Performance,† claims that if you mention a person race they may have a lower performance on tests. When Rukmani and her family had a terrible time with the bad season for farming and lack of food, they didnt tried to do anything to solve their problem. Instead they just thought times will be better soon even though they cant be, Times will not be better for many months. Meanwhile you will suffer and die, you meek suffering fools. Why cant you people cry out for help (Markandaya, Nectar In A Sieve, pg. 48) No matter how many times Kenny told them to beg for help but still they never listened. Most people in India starved and died, while people in modern America tried to solve their problem with out giving up. Like making strikes and so many other things. In Nectar In A Sieve, they dont want change to took place in their society, but in modern day America most people do want changes to take place. People described in Nectar In A Sieve dont want their place to be developed. In the book when they knew about establishment of tannery, they didnt like the idea at all, Now it is all noise and crowds everywhere, and rude young hooligans idling in the streets and dirty bazaars and uncouth behavior(Markandaya, Nectar In A Sieve, pg. 50) They dont like because it brought rude people, noise, dirt etc. They just wanted the peace and calm society they always had. While people in modern day America people always want changes to take place. They want more and more advanced technologies like Computers, Televisions, CD Players etc. They want more developed places. So some people dont like change and some people do because of their own different points. The most common thing between these two societies is celebration. They both have their own festivals to celebrate to have fun and more importantly to be thankful for that special day. People like in Nectar In A Sieve celebrate a festival called Deepavali, a festival they celebrate on the day when their god, Lord Krishna, defeated evil Naracasudu in one of the longest battle. Thats why they celebrate it with fireworks to show that they were free from evil. In the book Rukmani and her family celebrated it for the first time and she wanted her children to have a great time when she said, Deepavali comes once a year and this is the first time we have bought fireworks. Do not lose the opportunity. She knew how important Deepavali really is, so she wanted her children to have a great time on the day that comes only once a year. Also in modern day America people celebrate 4th of July. They were thankful because of the freedom they got from British on that special with fireworks. So both fe stivals are slightly different, but same in the main theme which is freedom. They both have differences and similarities, but they are happy with where they are due to their own reasons. History Harley Davidson

In 1903, William Harley-Davidson, Arthur Davidson, Williams Davidson, and Walter Davidson started Harley-Davidson in a 10Ãâ€"15 shed in their backyard in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Production started with three motorcycles in 1903 and increased to 8 in 1908. In 1969, AMF Incorporated acquired Harley-Davidson Motor Company and expanded capacity from 15,000 to 40,000 motorcycles. Harley-Davidson, Incorporated was formed in 1981, when it was purchased from AMF Incorporated in a management buyout. In 1986, Harley-Davidson, Incorporated became a publicly held company. The new management installed a just-in-time inventory system to reduce inventories and improve total quality. With a new quality focus Harley-Davidson began to invest heavily in research and development. In one year the new Harley-Davidson management reduced the break-even point by 18,000 motorcycles. Management's focus on efficiency in production and improvements in quality resulted in increased demand and a production capacity of 100,000 motorcycles in 1995. Harley-Davidson operates in two segments Motorcycles and Related Products, and Transportation and vehicles segment. Total net sales for the first nine months of 95 were $1.3 billion, an increase of $174.1 million from the first nine months of 1994. Teerlink stated the company expects to produce 200,000 units annually by the year 2003, compared to about 100,000 in 1995. Teerlink added in his speech, â€Å"We have not found any reduction in the demand for Harley-Davidson,†. He said the Milwaukee firm had close to 50 percent of the 651cc-and-above U.S. motorcycle market. Teerlink also said that almost 30 percent of the company's motorcycles are traditionally sold outside the United States. â€Å"Harley-Davidson seeks a patient and careful approach to overseas expansion. It's our intention to be very successful in all markets,† Teerlink added. â€Å"We are taking time to develop markets, rather than just going in and putting a dealer on every corner and have them sell motorcycles. Because we're capacity-constrained, we've been losing some market share, but we're not losing market share because people don't want to buy our product.† According to Teerlink, Harley-Davidson now has distributors in Peru, Singapore, Indonesia, South Africa and other emerging markets. He said Harley-Davidson had no immediate plans to diversify beyond its traditional strength in large-displacement motorcycles. Teerlink also noted that women now make up about eight percent of new Harley-Davidson buyers, as opposed to only two percent in the past (Online Magazine).
